Pre Care
Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks (Wear 50+ SPF on area to be treated, a hat to cover face)
Do no exfoliate or use active ingredients on area to be treated 3 days prior to IPL treatment
72 hours prior: Cease use of cosmeceutical retinol or products of the like
2 weeks prior: Avoid prescription retinol, solariums and fake tanning, do not wax the area to be treated or use any abrasive products
Post Care
24 hours post - Commence a gentle skincare routine using the recommended products. Use a moisturising spritz to cool and hydrate the skin at any time. Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen to the treated area.
48 hours post - Avoid exercise and chlorinated pools
72 hours post - Avoid using any active products containing AHA/BHA or retinol.
Avoid sunlight as much as possible during the healing period.
Sunlight can prevent your skin from healing properly and can cause new skin damage during this time.
Too much heat is bad for your skin as it tries to heal and regenerate. You need to keep your body temperature cool. Avoid hot baths or showers for several days after your treatment. Do no do any strenuous exercise during this time, as sweat increases your chances of infection, while potentially delaying the healing process.
If you have redness, swelling, itching, or burning after an IPL treatment, you can apply aloe vera gel or cold compresses as this will help cool the skin. If these symptoms persist for more than 48 hours, you should contact your doctor.
Do not apply makeup immediately after an IPL facial treatment. Avoid makeup for 24 hours after treatment.
Keep skin clean by using a gentle cleanser, only use cold or warm water and gently pat your skin dry as rubbing it can cause further irritation.
Always keep you skin protected and hydrated by using a natural based gentle moisturiser.
During the week or so following an IPL facial treatment, any pigmented spots in the treated areas may darken in colour before eventually peeling off.
Other blemishes may also become apparent before they eventually flake off. It is imperative not to scratch or pick at your skin during this time, or you will run the risk of infection, possibly resulting in new scars and imperfections.
